Dear FPC—

              Happy New Year!! I am excited for what God will be doing among us this year.  As we launch into January, I wanted to share this classic ancient prayer with you, often called St. Patrick’s Breastplate:

Christ, as a light
illumine and guide me.
Christ, as a shield
overshadow me.
Christ under me;
Christ over me;
Christ beside me
on my left and my right.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Be in the heart of each to whom I speak;
in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.
This day be within and without me,
lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Christ as a light;
Christ as a shield;
Christ beside me

on my left and my right.

               What a great way to begin a year or a day!

              What you think about when you think about God is the most important thing about you.  Do you ever think that God is mad at you or is angry?  Come on Sunday and let’s look at whether that is an accurate idea or a false narrative about God.

               Have a blessed week!
