Sunday Worship

July 20th at 10 am

This week we pick up the story of Elisha, the successor of Elijah, as prophet of the Lord. A foreign (read: Gentile) military commander named Naaman is cured from his skin disease, while at the same time, an Israelite prophet named Gehazi is cursed. It is no wonder that Jesus points to this story to highlight the reversal of expectations in God’s Kingdom and justify the inclusivity of his ministry (Luke 4:27). We’ll also explore themes of pride and faithfulness, and the surprising economy of God’s salvation.
